Update on Chewie!

UPDATE:  How fragile life is  - how quickly things can change.  Suddenly, the remission of Chewie's illness came upon him, and Chewie has left our world.   While he experienced more than his share of struggle, pain and fear in this life, he also was blessed with so much love.  Chewie did not go alone and afraid, but in the arms of his foster mom (RaeAnna), hers being the last voice he heard.  Dear one, you are finally resting - pain and fear free.

We still have a balance at the vet for Chewie of $300, if you'd like to help pay that down so others can be vetted.

******************************************************************************************************

Chewie is still happily with us..and would still love his own home.  He's in excellent health and a real sweetheart.

He is doing extremely well!  Chewie eats Natural Balance canned and dry food now, and hasn't had a problem in over a month. He is slowly (the best way) putting on weight. Chewie is really blossoming into a wonderful cat!  The remaining vet balance for Chewie is $225. We would be so grateful if you would help us pay this down, so other cats can have their turn!
Upon his return in April.  Chewie was emaciated, unable to hold down his food, and in a lot of pain.  He wanted nothing to do with anyone - feline, canine, or human.
Today I caught Chewie napping on his favorite blankie!  He has blossomed into a cat and dog-friendly, loving lap cat, who is VERY talkative!  His favorite word:   "Hello?"  Over and over again! Chewie is so smart!  When he cannot find RaeAnna - she hears his "hello" and says, "Here I am!" He always finds his foster mom and leads her to his private feeding room for his special food, or sits next to her when he wants some loving as they watch the ballgame!

Featured Cat: Meet Jellybean!

Our little miss Jelly Bean, found in the bushes by the shelter owner's dog, Ty, is all ready for her forever home! This little girl is a real charmer. She lets me know when she wants something! Jelly Bean is about 10 weeks old, and full of energy. She entertains herself very well in her luxury "apartment" - and is also very well behaved when she gets to go to the playroom with some of the other cats.

Meet George

A sweeter and gentler cat you will not find. George was left in a box on the steps of The Little Cats' Rescue along with his sister, who was adopted.  When George wants attention, he quietly sits in front of you, waiting for you to notice him.  When you do, a love session ensues!  George recently lost his best friend, Curry, to cancer.  They were inseparable, and he's been very sad since.  Although George has been with TLCR since 2007, perhaps his forever family is now ready for him.  George gets along with all the cats and our 65 lb. dog.  He is an "abby/tabby" - an Abyssinian/Tabby breed.  George is a very healthy 8 year old neutered male.

Willie is our newest Miracle!

Miracles DO  happen.  The Little Cats' Rescue has been unable to admit any cats since September, due to lack of funds.  It's been painfully difficult to continually turn them away,  but we cannot take on more than we can handle.  However, last week a call came in from a kind woman named Helen. A
kitten had made his home in the engine of her motor home, which was about to hit the road again.  He would come out for food from Helen,  but then he'd scamper back into the engine.  Helen called The Little Cats' Rescue to say that she was leaving, and the kitten would be left to fend for himself.
Something in RaeAnna's heart told her to say "yes" to this little boy. (Bear in mind that she didn't know his color or gender until he arrived).  RaeAnna named him Willie (for Nelson - "on the road again...") Willie quickly became brave and playful. Just prior to his arrival, a dear friend (pictured holding Willie) of RaeAnna's came back into her life after a 6-year absence. Leslie's precious kitty Dodger died, and she wanted a male, baby grey tabby to join her multi-cat household (which includes a white deaf male named Misha - who came from TLCR!) This family has been through hell and back - they lost everything..and yet through it all, not once did it enter their minds to "surrender" even one of their cats. They stuck together as a family and have made it through! And now, miracle of miracles, little Willie found his forever family just one week after arrived at The Little Cats' Rescue!  We are SOOOO happy for them!
Would you like to help TLCR to rescue, rehab and rehome more little kitties like Willie?  Just click on "how to help" above to give a tax-deductible donation.  We cannot do it alone!  There are so many more babies and adults out there needing rescue!  By the way, that adorable abby/tabby in the background is George - he's longing for his own forever home!   — at The Little Cats' Rescue Sanctuary.

Food Drive

"Meow, Meow, Meow.  Mom, we're are always needing more food!!!"

Yep, it's that time again.  Feeding 50 cats takes a LOT of food!  But the good news is, one of our faithful supporters will match your donations up to $500 to specifically pay for the cats' food!  Won't you please help us?  You can either mail a donation to:  P.O. Box 1559, Elfers, FL 34680, or you can click on our paypal link on this page Tax receipts are mailed out quarterly.  In case you don't know, TLCR has been serving the Tampa Bay tri-county area since 2002.  We've rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed close to 1,000 cats in that time - and done TNVR on hundreds.   Every little bit counts - even if you can afford only $5.00
a month!!  Thank you with purrs and sandpaper kisses!

Abby needs your help!

UPDATE ON ABBY:
August 21, 2014:  Abby is holding her own.  She's still playful and very affectionate.  Abby still has her troubling symptoms - and there is no "cure" for her.  We can alleviate her discomfort and nasal discharge with steroid injections.   But Abby protests.  As long as she is eating and having more good days than bad days, we hope Abby will be around for a long time.  She is 10-1/2 years old.  Abby has an outstanding veterinary bill of $250.  Please consider making a donation on her behalf, either via Pay Pal, or PO Box 1559, Elfers, FL, or directly to Animal Care Center, (727) 376-7600.  Abby thanks you with her soft little love taps.

June 10, 2014.  Abigail has had her procedure and is taking medication.  We are hoping that we've been successful in this treatment.  Stay tuned!  She will likely incur more medical expenses, so if you'd like to help us to help her, please do!  Use Paypal on this page,  Or:  P.O. Box 1559, Elfers, FL 34680.  Your donations are tax deductible.  If there is any left over, it will be used for veterinary costs for another of our rescued - maybe lifer - cats!

Sweet Sylvia

Sylvia is an awesome companion who would love to have her very own forever home.  And guess what!!! Sweet Sylvia's foster dad has decided he cannot do without her love in his home!  So, our dear old Sylvia doesn't have to be uprooted after all!!! YAY!!!  Adoption of Sylvia and her friends from TLCR foster care will stay together forever!!!

The Dangers of Declawing

Things your vet probably wont tell you about declawing your cat... please read and think twice about it! There are many safe alternatives for your cats such as multiple scratch posts, cat nail caps, etc..

Be kind, DON'T declaw!

Caturday: Meet the Kitties!

Amy
Amy is such a sweetheart. She and her two brothers (Fernando and Magellan) were born to Marleigh two days after their house burned down. Amy is talkative and very active. She likes to ride on your shoulder! Amy loves her mama and brothers. It would be so awesome if the family of 4 could stay together - Marleigh, Fernando, Amy and Magellen.

Stasia
Sweet Stasia was thrown from a car as a few-weeks-old kitten, along with her best buddy Sofia. She has recovered beautifully and is waiting for a very loving forever home! She's a very happy and playful kitty.

Gizmo
This is Gizmo. Some say he is a Russian Blue, some say he is a Korat. Whatever his breed, he is a wonderful, young neutered male.  Gizmo turned one year old this October. He is fully vetted and ready to give you the love you are looking for! Gentle children would be fine with him. Please share his need - he would really like his very own home.

Giselle

Giselle is a character! Rescued from a bad Tampa neighborhood, where she lived in the parking lot, she LOVES being inside! The day we rescued Giselle, she had been severely attacked by a dog and required extensive surgery. She is good as new, thanks to Dr. Scott Lamb. Giselle is approximately five years old. She has a bit of a quirky purrsonality - and is VERY sweet. She likes to curl up around your ankles, grab your arm as you pass by - and she does give love bites, so younger children or the elderly would not be a good match. Giselle is quite content just hanging around being loved!
