Do you know how much I really care?" </span></div></div><div class="l7ghb35v kjdc1dyq kmwttqpk gh25dzvf jikcssrz n3t5jt4f" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; margin: 0.5em 0px 0px; overflow-wrap: break-word; white-space: pre-wrap;"><div dir="auto"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div dir="auto"><span style="font-family: arial;">TyTy is being cremated at Fosters, and his ashes are being returned to me. color: #050505; font-family: arial; white-space: pre-wrap;">Who remembers Carissa? She's the kitten who was found screaming outside a local bar. Here's a snapshot of her life since she was rescued by The Little Cats Rescue of New Port Richey. Carissa was cute when she arrived, but she's really blossomed into a "Magnificat!" She's truly stunning. Cheryl can't get over how loving she is.</span></p><p><span style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: arial; white-space: pre-wrap;">Turned out that this little girl had a prolapsed rectum and required surgery. We named her after the lovely lady who found her. Carissa had to be confined while she healed, and it took us a month to get her well. She was a brave little girl throughout it all. Carissa was adopted by Cheryl back in early January, 2022. Cheryl believed she was about to lose her 102 year old mom and hoped to bring some joy to her mother in her last days as well as for herself. Well, those "last days" are still rolling on, and Cheryl attributes her mom's longevity to the love she gives to and gets from our little Carissa. We converse about once a week and marvel at the miracle of this kismet.</span></p><div class="cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; margin: 0.5em 0px 0px; overflow-wrap: break-word; white-space: pre-wrap;"><div dir="auto"><span style="font-family: arial;">Carissa and her humans are only one example of the precious lives you help us to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome, and we thank you!</span></div></div>TLCRhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04337474456256818848noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2340055756365651349.post-81131312520632268582021-12-06T00:00:00.006-05:002021-12-10T13:10:12.993-05:00Congratulations Milagro & Leon!<div dir="auto"><div class="ecm0bbzt hv4rvrfc ihqw7lf3 dati1w0a" data-ad-comet-preview="message" data-ad-preview="message" id="jsc_c_2o"><div class="j83agx80 cbu4d94t ew0dbk1b irj2b8pg"><div class="qzhwtbm6 knvmm38d"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><span class="d2edcug0 hpfvmrgz qv66sw1b c1et5uql lr9zc1uh a8c37x1j keod5gw0 nxhoafnm aigsh9s9 fe6kdd0r mau55g9w c8b282yb d3f4x2em iv3no6db jq4qci2q a3bd9o3v b1v8xokw oo9gr5id hzawbc8m" dir="auto"><div class="kvgmc6g5 cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql ii04i59q"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhuJh1-4VcRk4dMCEghY5YjDeEq_h_5rz_DBdrbH_DiHQLGcDBAIE_mGLkWgIxitO96AItVQItcqZ5o-BxfbeMM99wxyhhh4S9BkUt7c0GK9sTTzWfGqmrVPaPemDo9JrjGQ8L6Jbe_eGP7ycZDLgfIO1WcqrYRWXxFtJD6IDv9mTxBokZ3xbO3mrUk=s1410" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="836" data-original-width="1410" height="380" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhuJh1-4VcRk4dMCEghY5YjDeEq_h_5rz_DBdrbH_DiHQLGcDBAIE_mGLkWgIxitO96AItVQItcqZ5o-BxfbeMM99wxyhhh4S9BkUt7c0GK9sTTzWfGqmrVPaPemDo9JrjGQ8L6Jbe_eGP7ycZDLgfIO1WcqrYRWXxFtJD6IDv9mTxBokZ3xbO3mrUk=w640-h380" width="640" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"> </div><div dir="auto" style="text-align: start;">Congratulations to Milagro & Leon and their new parents! TyTy was rescued along with his mom and six siblings at the tender age of two months. She was used as a breeder, and she escaped with her pups. She was spotted by our founder's sister, who was vsiting from out of state, as Mama herded the babies across a very busy road. Long story short, TyTy came to our Sanctuary at seven months old. The person who adopted him was neglectful and abusive to him. We received a call from him saying that he would kill the dog if we didn't take him. (this person left TyTy leashed to a tree in an unfenced yyard, where he chewed through the leash and ran the neighborhood. He was locked in a bathroom all night long, and was hit and fed raw pork chops.) We took him, and he has been such a blessing! He had a horrific case of diarrhea and multiple skin issues when he arrived. We slept out on the screened porch until he could be acclimated to the cats. That didn't take long! TyTy loves people and he loves his kitties! He trains them to be able to be adopted into a home with a large dog.</span></div><div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: inherit; color: #333333;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div><div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: inherit; color: #333333;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">TyTy has a torn ACL and requires surgery. We've already tried laser therapy and glucosamine injections, for a cost of $750 - but there has been no improvement. We've now been given an estimate of:</span></div><div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: inherit; color: #333333;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Consultation with Dr. Hay: $185; X-rays: $500; Surgery: $4,200.</span></div><div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: inherit; color: #333333;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"> </span></div><div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: inherit; color: #333333;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">So, who is The Little Cats' Rescue, Inc.? We are an all-volunteer sanctuary for abandoned, abused and at-risk cats. We have been rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming cats here in the tri-county area since 2001. Thousands of cats have been rescued from dire circumstances, including impending death. They were lovingly cared for and prepared for their own forever homes. Those that are not adopted are promised life-long care at our Sanctuary, where they live uncaged in a home environment. TyTy has given so much to the kitties and we desperately want to get him the help he needs to live a painfree, mobile life. TyTy will be 11 years old on June 15th. Won't you please help us to help him?</span></div><div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: inherit; color: #333333;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div><div style="box-sizing: inherit; color: #333333; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><b style="background-color: #fcff01;"><a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/TyTy-rescued-doggie-needs-acl-surgery">Click Here for TyTy's GoFundMe fundraiser</a></b></span></div><div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: inherit; color: #333333;"><br /></div><img alt="" class="m-text-editor-image" height="362" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/65636995_1654037737752502_r." style="background-color: white; box-sizing: inherit; color: #333333; display: block; height: auto; margin-bottom: 1.5rem; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; max-height: 490px; max-width: 490px; vertical-align: middle;" width="640" />TLCRhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04337474456256818848noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2340055756365651349.post-24547785172970929592021-11-04T09:00:00.002-04:002021-11-04T10:59:21.957-04:00Cleopatra (1/18/04 - 11/18/21)<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkUUAxxQhyyQdnSJV-bRToGpn8u11xMygnwBV3ZUK3klobmSfV7xGgiJQOee00ZAkIFJEToseHJMT9JezHKFhUz_nJH1sjTM3jRqDe4EHu_AstuGxBAoDG5yAt16xWfhuHj8ep2C-0a6A/s960/Cleo.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="935" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkUUAxxQhyyQdnSJV-bRToGpn8u11xMygnwBV3ZUK3klobmSfV7xGgiJQOee00ZAkIFJEToseHJMT9JezHKFhUz_nJH1sjTM3jRqDe4EHu_AstuGxBAoDG5yAt16xWfhuHj8ep2C-0a6A/w624-h640/Cleo.jpg" width="624" /></a></span></div><p></p><p><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span face=""Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;">In April, 2009, I became aware of a beautiful, loving, healthy girl named Cleopatra. She was going to be killed by her "rescuer," because despite being in a cage at Petsmart for six months, a home could not be found for her. On April 11, 2009, I brought Cleopatra to my home, The Little Cats' Rescue and Sanctuary in New Port Richey. She was only five years old. </span></span></p><div dir="auto" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">From the moment Cleo arrived, she was THE best cat ever. Always my buddy - always well-behaved and so loving. She provided me with much laughter, too. Over the course of the last 18 months, Cleo's health began to deteriorate. She was seen by several vets, all of whom said, "upper respiratory infection and possible dementia." Despite being treated over and over with different meds, the congestion never abated, it only got worse. Her "dementia" continued. I would give her wet food; she'd devour it only to return within the hour for more - crying out as if she was starving. It was as if she had forgotten that she just ate. This went on all day and night, every day. Even with all this eating, Cleo kept losing weight. At the end, she was down to 5.8 lbs - way down from her original healthy 10 lbs. Dr. Channel and I had hoped her T4 would show that she had hyperthyroidism, which is easily treated. Unfortunately, that was not the issue. Within a week, Cleo's head became deformed and her dementia was worse. An unsuspected brain tumor had taken her to the point of no return. Cleopatra would have been 18 years old in January. She will always live in my heart and mind. </span></div><div dir="auto" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Pictured are Cleopatra in her prime, and then with her bestie, Miranda (who left the planet two years ago) and the final picture is of Cleo saying goodbye to her friend, Lovey. Euthanasia is the final act of love we can give to our suffering furbies. This was one of the hardest for me. Rest in peace, my sweet angel Cleo.</span></div><div dir="auto" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVXIl2spOFpSJ-pHhOtcYfypqBH5jtiRI1kHXoN8AttAKB9XWC4zbw-R3j6s-k0F4ArfpE-FQfg56xXiAG03jsHOcFsGceQTlZjcItNmrblRmmsQxWh8y2S2K5BNAR5yybPYKRefTpE4k/s960/Cleo1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="831" data-original-width="960" height="554" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVXIl2spOFpSJ-pHhOtcYfypqBH5jtiRI1kHXoN8AttAKB9XWC4zbw-R3j6s-k0F4ArfpE-FQfg56xXiAG03jsHOcFsGceQTlZjcItNmrblRmmsQxWh8y2S2K5BNAR5yybPYKRefTpE4k/w640-h554/Cleo1.jpg" width="640" /></a></span></div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDVndW5pTQSiY97vuv-Zhj182F3PZoZl3M03N5eHsX-zX-hpFuTFhiDB3kMgpD9PTIMUY0Ojx8DNvA4lwMFHye1ULK3i-qn8oyz6z-nxxCF7as1LI1yuJV6Zz3ybclh6HD5nYnHKIotYY/s1143/Cleo2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="792" data-original-width="1143" height="444" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDVndW5pTQSiY97vuv-Zhj182F3PZoZl3M03N5eHsX-zX-hpFuTFhiDB3kMgpD9PTIMUY0Ojx8DNvA4lwMFHye1ULK3i-qn8oyz6z-nxxCF7as1LI1yuJV6Zz3ybclh6HD5nYnHKIotYY/w640-h444/Cleo2.jpg" width="640" /></a></span></div><span style="font-family: inherit;"></span>TLCRhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04337474456256818848noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2340055756365651349.post-65927174089967773862021-11-01T14:00:00.001-04:002021-11-04T11:01:47.760-04:00Is This Your Cat? <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjcQyhl8VeLab3urulZmseIIPGdjzEwdWSC6roCo6rX3bAg9P75r9SR6Myutw_OviVEHQXPmo0vNAM8oZ3JSzqI4N7HWagnn-IC-LDwydd_Lv8B9UpcTYou8JkmSLi8-_WR3Ud2Ddwjgs/s2048/Hope.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1821" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjcQyhl8VeLab3urulZmseIIPGdjzEwdWSC6roCo6rX3bAg9P75r9SR6Myutw_OviVEHQXPmo0vNAM8oZ3JSzqI4N7HWagnn-IC-LDwydd_Lv8B9UpcTYou8JkmSLi8-_WR3Ud2Ddwjgs/w570-h640/Hope.jpg" width="570" /></a></p><p><span face=""Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;">Is this your cat? Two medications have already been given to them in the meantime. Right or wrong, I had made the decision to allow BB to nurse from Raven, and she and her babies accepted him. I did this because no matter what or how I attempted to feed him, he would clamp his mouth shut and pull away from the food. He appeared healthy otherwise, with no diarrhea. Nonetheless, he was treated (as all are upon arrival) with appropriate medications. </div><div dir="auto" style="text-align: start;"> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9cQ5mTpYueQlC68SS7P3cFAkxvQM-9ttfa33jW_70OBG5llp7lnP81sdAJjhqf2-IUGM_-6D-JE52gCiw-UxRskELhJsFjFxgqgkOE2Un0WPmrkTmWVGB4AbpI42oRuGv38R9O5CiOQ8/s2048/05-14-21+B+invoice.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9cQ5mTpYueQlC68SS7P3cFAkxvQM-9ttfa33jW_70OBG5llp7lnP81sdAJjhqf2-IUGM_-6D-JE52gCiw-UxRskELhJsFjFxgqgkOE2Un0WPmrkTmWVGB4AbpI42oRuGv38R9O5CiOQ8/w480-h640/05-14-21+B+invoice.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /> I've included the invoice from the vet charges in the hope that we can receive enough donations to cover these charges ($729) and those going forward. So much love and tenderness went into her healing; it's been hard to even think about adopting her out. I'm seriously considering offering Eliza for adoption, so she's not one of 50 cats. Despite being blind, Eliza gets around very well in the kitten room. She's very brave and bold, climbing on the cat trees and playing with her toys. She's not afraid of our 72 lb. dog, TyTy. She's very curious. Eliza gets along with the other kittens. She does like to snuggle with me, but she also likes to bite and pull my hair (trying to break her of that!)</span></span></span></div><div dir="auto" style="text-align: start;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><span class="d2edcug0 hpfvmrgz qv66sw1b c1et5uql rrkovp55 a8c37x1j keod5gw0 nxhoafnm aigsh9s9 d3f4x2em fe6kdd0r mau55g9w c8b282yb iv3no6db jq4qci2q a3bd9o3v knj5qynh oo9gr5id hzawbc8m" dir="auto"> </span></span></span></div><div dir="auto" style="text-align: start;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><span class="d2edcug0 hpfvmrgz qv66sw1b c1et5uql rrkovp55 a8c37x1j keod5gw0 nxhoafnm aigsh9s9 d3f4x2em fe6kdd0r mau55g9w c8b282yb iv3no6db jq4qci2q a3bd9o3v knj5qynh oo9gr5id hzawbc8m" dir="auto">She cannot live her entire life in a room, and I'm very nervous about giving her free range of the entire Sanctuary. While we are legally allowed to house 50 cats, we've placed a moratorium on new admissions. With a Sanctuary of (currently) 44 cats, many of whom are special needs/senior, the vet bills don't get less; they increase. Giving Tuesday brought in $1,075. Many of you are regular donors, and that's what keeps us going. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">In June, one of our vets came to the Sanctuary to administer mandatory rabies vaccines to everyone ($1,700). Upon examination, he recommended dental procedures/oral surgery for 20 of our cats. It's hard to know exactly the cost for each cat, as a thorough mouth exam can only be done under sedation. The best case scenario would be an average of $700 per cat, if we are lucky. Dentals are important to help prevent other serious issues as well as eliminating painful mouths.</span><br />

When we admit a cat, it is with the promise of a forever home FOR LIFE. When we lost our adoption center six years ago, adoptions became harder to come by. (We lost the adoption center because, after ten successful years, a new manager told us we had to either stop doing vet references and home visits and allow their associates to approve adoptions, or lose the center.) </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">It's been suggested to euthanize the cats that cannot find homes. That is not an option for The Little Cats' Rescue. It is not an ethical choice. </span></span> <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #1c1e21;">This little guy was abandoned at our doorstep. He was in pretty rough shape, but Banana (named by Silas, our 5-year-old naming expert!) is feeling so much better, having been cleaned up and medication started. He was loaded with earmites and, as you can hear, is pretty much full of a kitty cold. The medications will kick in, and he will be better than new in a few weeks. We figure him to be about two months old. Please consider a donation toward his care. Your donations are tax-deductible and 100% used for the care and housing of our rescued kitties. </span><a href="https://goo.gl/4By61D" style="background-color: yellow;" target="_blank"><span style="color: #cc0000;">Click here to make a donation by PayPal.</span></a><span style="background-color: white; color: #1c1e21;"> </span></span><br />
